Skin Care Packaging Portfolio

This post is introducing my Skin Care Packaging Portfolio.

In the past posts I have devoted few posts to skin care packaging. In this entry I would like to summarise it and put it in one place.

Packaging Design Portfolio

I am posting this to show my graphic design portfolio for a job interview.

The position was focused on packaging. I do not know if I will get the job or no, but I did my hardest.

To be fair this my first portfolio in this style I have ever done. I am sure it won’t be my last.

Mead Drink Advert

For this new post I have designed a Mead Drink Advert Poster. I was aiming at something for a magazine and etc.

The Ancient Greeks drank mead. Vikings were known to have indulged. In old Celtic and Germanic cultures, it was a hero’s drink, something sweet to gulp down gallantly after slaying foes. And there was Friar Tuck, famously.

But for 600 years or so it was cast aside in favour of beer, wine, and all other alcoholic beverages besides. In the last century, it had slipped away almost entirely, constrained to quiet monasteries and odd pocketed communities on rugged isles.

But mead is very much back on the bar. In the last few years it has gone mainstream and sales are up. English Heritage says it sells a bottle every ten minutes. Not bad for a simple ancient alcoholic drink of fermented honey and water.

Today, some suggest cult TV shows such as Game of Thrones spurred the resurgence. Out of flagons the heady beverage is swilled. In Ridley Scott’s 2010 Robin Hood adaptation, Friar Tuck flogs his home brew to the merry men.

I don’t aim that high as Game of Thrones, but wanted to create something quite modern and contemporary.

The style of the advert is slightly different than the one I have create earlier. This time around I was aiming at something bit more somber.

The wooden figure at the background is quite traditional in some countries. The village folk did try to make their bee house more interesting by a wood cuts such as this one. I liked it very much and thought using it would make the can look more interesting.

In addition I am adding t-shirts featuring the image as used on the can.

At the end I would like to add a magazine advert.

Branded & Printed Business Mugs

For this project I have decided to do something bit different. I have designed a company mugs.

Earlier I have created an Architecture Studio Tri-fold brochure which you can see if you click HERE .

To complete the project I was thinking about designing company branded mugs. It is something which they can give to they customers as Christmas present or give other businesses for the same reason.

With this design I wanted to keep it very simple and minimalistic as much as possible, which is not always my style.

I have played with the company logo and added some more images from the brochure thinking that could be buildings this company had built in the past.

I wanted to keep the colour scheme very basic. I have used just three colour withs orange/pink, white, black and different tints of the black.

The mugs itself is quite old fashioned and that is on purpose. I wanted something different, something which can be easily remembered.

The row above is featuring mugs only with the logo and brand name. I have used “Define Pattern” option in Adobe Photoshop while creating these.

The row below is featuring something more elaborated.

New Advert for Strawberry drink

So I have created packaging for my fruit sparkling drink and now what is left to do is to promote my drink.

I have to select some well known magazine for my campaign to be successful so I have to be choosing carefully.

I intend to aim at young audience as they are more likely to test something new and might find my packaging design attractive.

Above you can see my strawberry sparkling drink, which I need to advertise for.

You can see the design process if you click HERE . I have created other options, but the example you can see above is my favourite.

I wanted it to look very summary as I am creating something for the spring/summer season hence the colours.

The final advert is combination of both colour schemes.

In the previous posts I have done one beer advert which you can see if you click HERE .

I have also created an advert for American Lemonade which you can see if you click HERE .

Both versions were created using Adobe Photoshop. Same appliication was used for creation of the following advert.

I am in favour of the combination of very contrasty colours, but that might be my personal preference.

Sparkling Fruit Drink

For this post I have decided to design a can for sparkling fruit drink. What I had in mind was something with a flair of joke.

My idea and big mission to remove the boredom and stigma that surrounds soft drinks.

A brand identity for the sparkling fruit drink featuring used colours and illustrations. Colours are bright and warm.

I am continuing with the look of the vintages snack I have designed earlier on and which you can see if you click HERE .

I wanted to use images of the fruit the drink has got a flavour off.

I had to bee testing the ideas as every element of the can plays a significant role in overall look of the packaging.

mockups-design.com

ere you can see my first attempt to do so. Prior to this work I have done some research into sparkling fruit drinks. I had in mind to use font which would complement the idea of tasty drink, but the used font here and the colour too is not working at all.

The drink name is too big and the red colour is disappearing in the background.

I now new I have to be using different font than I have used the vignette should be small too.

mockups-design.com

In this example I have used different type of vignette, but I don’t think it work well either.

Customer now know that he/she is getting sparkling drink and knows more about the weight.

I like the colour and the use of the gradient here, but the vignette is not really working here very well.

With this new example I have tried to play more with shape of the label as I wasn’t satisfied with look, because it seemed empty.

mockups-design.com

In my opinion also not harmonised together very well.

In case of the example on the left I added shape at the top of the can to help me highlight the Brand name as that is important and also the flavour of the drink, plus small information for the consumer that the drink is organic. In the previous exaples the big apple at the background was turned the wrong way around so in this case I have ammended the mistake and turning it the right way around. My consumer knows now and can distinguish the brand name with clean shape at the top.

In the last few cases I have played more with background image and overall look of the illustration.

mockups-design.com

I feel the image itself is interesting and important too as the shopper can see clearly that they are buying something with apple flavour.

I have decide to change few elements which is adding shadow to the apples and adding more of those I wanted to simplify it for the consumer. Also the flavour label is now white as I don’t like the black, it seems too hard to me.

The reason for playing with the background image is that I had to delete some parts to help the logo to stand out more.

The last example of my collection is a Strawberry flavour drink.

mockups-design.com

Which in my opinion is the best. I feel this is better executed.

mockups-design.com

I was trying to follow similiar pattern, but some of the procedures are different.

In the first case I wasn’t using gradient to add more colour.

In the ase on the right I have used gradient and the strawberries are partly hidden by it.

I prefer the first case, because it would be stand out on the supemarket shelf better.

New Japanese Restaurant Banner

I love Japanese food and therefore I have decided to create a Japanese Restaurant Banner.

I was trying to do quiet Asian like, but I am not Asian.

The name for the restaurant is “Koi” like the fish, which is in the background of the banner.

I am expecting , that more things will come.

I want to give credits to the photographer, who are responsible for the beautiful sushi images I have used.

In my usual fashion I went to http://www.pexels.com. I would like to thank these artists for their work.

I have also created some brand t-shirts for the members of staff to be easier recognisable for the customers.

The third row of the uniquely designed t-shirts could be sold to customers.

New Men’s T-shirt designs for RHS Chelsea show

This post is follow up of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. I have designed posters, women’s tote bag, women’s t-shirt, men’s tote bag and now I have designed a men’s t-shirt. I have tried to follow same pattern as with the ladies t-shirts.

I wanted to produce a unique range of t-shirts for men. I am aware of the importance to create something unique to attract the attention of the audience.

Objective

I set myself task to produce range of memorabilia t-shirts accompanying The Chelsea flower show something featuring flowers in unusual arrangements.

In addition to these I have also create a limited edition which I have called “Designer’s Favorite”. Please see below.

Next images is a brand identity example.

I am done with my designs. The last thing what I have to do is to advertise it. The next few images will be of me promoting my t-shirt brand and trying to reach my customers through advertising in the magazines.

Why is important to advertise?

Magazines offer advertisers highly targeted audiences. … Due to the breadth and depth of magazine titles available to consumers, advertisers are able to pinpoint their target market and then purchase ad space in the magazines they subscribe to (or those they steal from the dentist’s office).

without the work of other people I wouldn’t about to finish this project. For this very reason I will give credits.

If this would be for real, they would be sold in the RHS shop as a memorabilia. We ladies sometimes love to have something to reminds the places we have once visited.

If you own a pair of jeans or trousers (which I am assuming you do), you’ll probably need a top to go with them. I wanted to design something quite playful and funny. Like the example below showing London silhouette.

A T-shirt is a style of unisex fabric shirt named after the T shape of its body and sleeves. Traditionally it has short sleeves and a round neckline, known as a crew neck, which lacks a collar. T-shirts are generally made of a stretchy, light and inexpensive fabric and are easy to clean. Typically made of cotton textile in a stockinette or jersey knit, it has a distinctively pliable texture compared to shirts made of woven cloth. Some modern versions have a body made from a continuously knitted.

The material used would be 100% cotton.

For this example I got inspired by Alexander McQueen and Damien Hirst. I didn’t it to be too violent image hence the flowers.

I didn’t want to design too many variations as sometimes it is good to keep it simple.

I will be back with more designs.

I am adding few more colour variations.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show poster

A spring has definitely arrived, which is delightful. For this post I have decided to create a poster for The Chelsea Flower Show.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, formally known as the Great Spring Show,[ is a garden show held for five days in May by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in Chelsea, London. Held at Chelsea since 1912, it is the most famous flower and landscape gardens show in the United Kingdom, and perhaps in the world. [1] The show is attended by members of the British Royal Family and attracts visitors from all continents.

Highlights to the Chelsea Flower Show include the avant-garde show gardens designed by leading names with Floral Marquee at the centerpiece. The Show also features smaller gardens such as the Artisan and Urban Gardens.

At the moment I am in favour of vintage look. I create this poster from flowers illustrations not from the real photos.

I wanted to give more style option. I have created some variations in the style. Here I am using photographs.

After watching a trailer on RHS website featuring interviews with the participants of the show. I decided that a sharp angles are not always the best.

One of the topics of this year how is gargening for well being. This idea told of one of the gardeners to create something which would let the visitors to explore the garden more intuitively rather through designed paths I have created few more versions of my poster.

The colour used for the background of the posters are always colour picked from the photos. I am aiming for colour harmony.

The challenge here is to create something with text and photos without either of them overpowering the other one. I also didn’t want too many photos which would disturb the simplicity of the poster. I also struggled with placements of the logos. I resolved the issue by placing them on bottom right side.

The Chelsea Flower show is very visual and I feel photos are very important part of the poster. I felt I have to include those and they need to be relatively big in size.

Over all I am happy with my designs and might do more later on.
